'Not going to run away': Devendra Fadnavis to continue as Maharashtra Deputy CM

PTC Web Desk: Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra's deputy chief minister, stated on Saturday that he will continue to work in the role, despite offering to step down and accepting responsibility for the Bharatiya Janata Party's dismal performance in the state's Lok Sabha Elections.

Following an important BJP meeting in which party MLAs endorsed a resolution reposing faith in him,' Fadnavis stated that the 'fake narrative' was another opposition that the ruling Mahayuti alliance had to deal with.

"I do not run away. I fight back. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj teaches us that even when we are besieged on all sides, we can rise with force. I met Amit Shah (in Delhi) and he asked me to continue, which I will do," the BJP leader said. "We have a strategy. I've already started working (for the upcoming assembly elections)," Fadnavis said.

On Wednesday, Fadnavis took entire responsibility for the BJP's performance in the Maharashtra general elections. The saffron party could only win nine seats in the state.

"We found the causes of our fiasco, and corrective measures must be implemented prior to the Assembly elections. I have thus decided to request that my central leadership relieve me of the duty of the office of deputy chief minister and allow me to work for the party full-time', he stated.
