FASTag KYC: Check out step-by-step guide

PTC Web Desk: Nearly 10 years since its introduction in 2014, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' programme. Its primary objective is to prevent any vehicle from utilising multiple FASTags.

This initiative is designed to enforce the Electronic Toll Collection system's efficiency by ensuring that owners with multiple vehicles do not use the same FASTag. Addressing the issue, the NHAI stated on Monday, "FASTags are sometimes intentionally not affixed on the vehicle's windscreen, leading to unnecessary delays at toll plazas and causing inconvenience to fellow National Highway users."

"Having achieved a remarkable penetration rate of approximately 98 percent and boasting over 8 crore users, FASTag has brought about a revolutionary transformation in the country's Electronic Toll Collection system," the statement highlighted.

Under the new directive, all vehicle owners are mandated to update the KYC details linked to their FASTags. Failing to update this information by January 31 will result in the deactivation of their FASTags, even if there is an adequate balance available.
