Haryana double murder: Newlywed couple shot dead in park in Hisar's Hansi town
Haryana double murder: A newlywed couple was shot dead by two assailants in a park in Haryana's Hansi town of Hisar district on Monday. They got married two months ago, amid opposition from the woman's family members.
Dheeraj Kumar, Hansi deputy superintendent of police (DSP), reported that the event occurred in the morning at the nearby Lala Hukum Chand Jain Park. He stated that the authorities have been investigating the honour killing angle.
The victims, Tejveer Singh of Badala village in Hisar and his wife Meena of Sultanpur village in Hansi were in their early 20s. The couple were from the same caste, and their families knew each other.
According to the DSP, police raced to the park after receiving information that the couple had been shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants.
"We retrieved a bike key from near the bodies. The victims' families have been informed, and we are looking into the role of the woman's relatives, who were opposed to the wedding," he said.
The park has been sealed, and statements from victims' families are being recorded.
The bodies were taken to the civil hospital in Hansi for post-mortem.
