Haryana violence: Security beefed up in Delhi as Bajrang Dal, VHP stage protest in NCR

Haryana violence in Delhi: A communal clash that broke out on Monday evening in Haryana's Nuh triggered by an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist is now gripped by tension and chaos in several parts of the national capital.

As per the latest update in Haryana’s Nuh violence, six deaths has been confirmed and a total of 116 people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Haryana's Nuh violence extended

The Haryana’s Nuh protest and violence now hit several places of national capital and the adjoining districts of Faridabad, Palwal, and Gurugram.

One death was reported in Sector 57 mosque in Gurugram, five vehicles were torched in Sohna, and two to three shops were vandalised.

The protestors hit the streets near East Delhi's Nirman Vihar Metro station and Ghonda Chowk, raising slogans.

Apart from these two places, demonstrations were also held near Subhash Nagar Chowk.

Security tightened as Nuh’s violence spreads

Receiving word of the prostests, Delhi Police swung into action and ensured heavy security deployment in the area.

Security was also tightened in the adjoining districts of Faridabad, Palwal, and Gurugram.

A total of 20 paramilitary force companies and 30 Haryana Police units have been deployed in Haryana to restore peace and order.

CM Khattar urges for peace

Earlier, on Wednesday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar informed reporters that a total of 116 people have been arrested in connection with the violence in Nuh, which has, so far, claimed 6 lives — 2 police homeguards and 4 civilians.

“The overall situation in the state is normal. I appeal to the public to maintain peace and brotherhood," the Haryana chief minister said.

“14 units (of police and para forces) were sent to Nuh, while 3, 2 and 1 units were posted in Palwal, Faridabad and Gurugram respectively. At present, the situation is normal in Nuh and surrounding areas but security agencies are on alert,” the CM said.

Reason behind Nuh violence

The clash was triggered by an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist.

Bajrang Dal member Monu Manesar and his friends, who are accused in several criminal cases, shared the video a few days ago and openly challenged that he would stay in Mewat throughout the yatra.

Many claim to have spotted them during the yatra, and the villagers are said to have retaliated.
