Himachal accident: 6 killed, several injured as SUV falls into Chamba river
Himachal Pradesh accident: In a tragic accident, six police personnel of the 2nd IRB posted at the Chamba Border area killed and several others critically injured after SUV met with an accident and rolled down the gorge at Bairgarh-Tissa road in district Chamba.
The incident took place near Tarwai brigde on Tissa-Bairagarh-Pangi road after a landslide hit the SUV due to which vehicle got imbalanced and skidded into Siul river in Chamba.

According to the sources, 11 people were onboard SUV and were proceeding for patrolling duties when their vehicle met with an accident.

Apart from the above, one local resident namely Chandru Ram S/o Jai Dyal has also lost his life.
Expressing grief over the incident, the entire Police Department prayed for peace of the departed souls and also prays that their families may have the strength to bear this tragic loss.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also expressed grief over the horrific accident in Chamba and directed to provide immediate ex-gratia to the next of kin of the deceased.
The Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall with thunder likely to occur in parts of Himachal Pradesh.

According to the warning, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, Chamba and Una over the next three hours. In addition, heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places in Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kangra and Mandi.
About 242 roads, including two national highways, were closed in Himachal Pradesh due to the recent rainfall.
