Himachal Pradesh landslide: 2 killed, 7 injured during stampede at shrine in Una

Himachal Pradesh landslide: Two devotees killed, seven others sustained injuries during a stampede at a shrine in Una district, Himachal Pradesh. 

The dreadful and horrific incident unfolded due to a landslide at Dera Baba Vadbhag Singh in Mairi village, Amb subdivision. 


The shrine, located approximately 40 km from Una, is frequented by many seeking remedies for individuals believed to be possessed by evil spirit.

The tragedy unfolded when devotees were bathing in the sacred spring of Charan Ganga around 5 am and several large rocks fell from the mountainside following the landslide.

Upon witnessing the rocks descending from the mountain, individuals began to panic, resulting in a stampede that injured nine worshippers. 

All the injured were promptly transported to the Civil Hospital Amb for medical attention, where unfortunately two of them, identified as Billa and Balveer Chand from Faridkot, Punjab, succumbed to their injuries. 

The police have initiated postmortem procedures for the deceased. Five of the injured have been admitted to Una Zonal Hospital, while two others have been referred to PGI Chandigarh for further treatment.

The statements from eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident would be documented to uncover the true causes of the accident, says Una SP Rakesh Singh.
