Himachal Pradesh withdraws entry tax kike: CM Sukhu restores old rates after protests
Himachal entry tax: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday announced the rollback of the recently increased entry tax for vehicles at border check posts after facing protests from the public.
As per the revised decision, the earlier rates have been restored. Vehicles with five seats will now continue to pay Rs 70, while those with 6 to 12 seats will be charged Rs 110. The proposed hike had raised the tax to Rs 130 for both categories.
The Himachal Chief Minister said there was unnecessary confusion being created over the issue, even though the increase was relatively small for most types of vehicles.
He added that people living within a 5-km radius of the toll points will be given special passes to ease their travel.
