Kedarnath temple mobile ban: In a significant move aimed at maintaining the spiritual environment of the shrine, authorities at Kedarnath Temple have imposed a complete ban on the use of mobile phones inside the temple premises. The decision has been taken to ensure a peaceful and distraction-free experience for devotees visiting one of India’s holiest pilgrimage sites.

Temple committee member Vineet Posti announced the development through social media, clarifying that carrying mobile phones inside the temple, clicking photographs, recording videos or creating social media reels is strictly prohibited. He further warned that any violation of these guidelines could lead to legal action against the offender.

Officials have urged pilgrims to follow the prescribed rules and uphold the religious decorum of the temple. The committee emphasised that the step has been taken to allow devotees to focus entirely on prayer and spiritual practices, rather than engaging in digital activities.

The decision comes in the wake of recent controversies involving viral videos and reels recorded within the temple premises, which sparked criticism from religious groups and devotees alike. Religious leaders have also backed the move, calling it necessary to preserve the dignity and sanctity of the sacred site.

Meanwhile, with a surge in the number of pilgrims undertaking the Kedarnath Yatra, local authorities have rolled out a comprehensive traffic management plan. Police officials stated that arrangements are being strengthened across highways and connecting routes to prevent congestion during the pilgrimage season.

Adequate deployment of police personnel will be ensured at key points to regulate vehicular movement and maintain order. Additionally, both permanent and temporary parking facilities are being set up along the route to manage the increasing vehicular load.

Authorities stationed at the temple will closely monitor compliance with the new rules. Mobile phones found in restricted zones may be confiscated as part of enforcement measures.
