Lok Sabha polls: Stage set for sixth phase
Voting for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 begins. Polling being held in 58 constituencies across 8 states and Union Territories (UTs) today.
Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Phase 6 LIVE UPDATES | The largest-ever election in history, voting for Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Phase 6 begins today in 58 constituencies spread across 8 states and Union Territories (UTs) amid tight security.
The states and Union Territories participating in Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Bihar (8 seats), Haryana (all 10 seats), Jammu and Kashmir (1 seat), Jharkhand (4 seats), Delhi (all 7 seats), Odisha (6 seats), Uttar Pradesh (14 seats), and West Bengal (8 seats).
The voting for the sixth phase of elections started today at 7:00 am IST and will end at 6 pm IST.
Prominent contestants to contest in Lok Sabha Phase 6 includes - Maneka Gandhi (BJP), Bansuri Swaraj (BJP) , Somnath Bharti (AAP), Manoj Tiwari (BJP), Kanhaiya Kumar (Congress), Raj Babbar (Congress), Raaj Kumar Anand (BSP), among others.
Meanwhile, concerned CEOs and State machineries have been directed to take adequate measures to manage the adverse impact of hot weather or rainfall wherever predicted. Polling stations are ready to welcome the voters with ample shade, drinking water, ramps, toilets, and other basic facilities to ensure that polling takes place in a comfortable and secure environment. Polling parties have been dispatched along with machines and poll materials to their respective polling stations.
The general elections are being held across seven phases. The first five phases were held on April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13 and May 20 while the subsequent phases are scheduled on May 25 and June 1. The counting of votes will happen on June.
