Nashik tragedy: A family trip turned into a heartbreaking tragedy in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, where nine members of the same family lost their lives after their car fell into a water-filled well late at night.

The accident was reported around 11.30 pm on Friday in Dindori taluka, nearly 40 km from Nashik. The family was returning home after attending a function at a banquet hall in Shivajinagar.

According to officials, Sunil Dattatreya Dargode was driving the car when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle. The car went off the road and fell straight into a nearby well filled with water.

As soon as the accident was reported, rescue teams reached the spot. Police, fire brigade, disaster management teams and later the NDRF joined the operation. However, the rescue work became very difficult because the well was completely filled with water. It took several hours for the teams to pull the car out using cranes.

Nine bodies were recovered from inside the vehicle. At the same time, another search operation was carried out to find a young girl who had reportedly been thrown out of the car during the fall and got submerged in the well.

All victims belonged to the same extended family. Those who lost their lives include Sunil Dattatreya Dargode, his wife Reshma, and their 10-year-old daughter Rakhi. Two of their nieces, Madhuri and Shravani, were also among the deceased.

Another family member, Asha Anil Dargode, along with her children Shreyash and Srishti, and her niece Samruddhi, also died in the accident. Most of the victims were children.

Police from Dindori have registered a case and started an investigation.
