Patna, Jaipur airports get bomb threat email; security beefed up

PTC Web Desk: Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna, Bihar, on Tuesday received a bomb threat email, prompting an immediate escalation in security measures, according to the airport director. This incident followed a similar threat earlier in the day at Vadodara Airport. Meanwhile, reports are also coming in about a similar bomb threat email to Rajasthan's Jaipur International Airport.

Notably, upon receiving the threat email, the Vadodara Airport authorities alerted the police, leading to heightened security protocols. The Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) and local police began rigorously checking all vehicles entering the airport premises. An investigation has been launched, with Vadodara Cyber Crime actively tracing the source of the threatening email.

In another related incident, a bomb threat targeting a Dubai-bound plane scheduled to depart from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport was reported. The threat email was received by the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) office at 9:35 am on June 17, as confirmed by police sources on Tuesday. The email specifically mentioned a bomb on board the flight from Delhi to Dubai.

The authorities responded swiftly, implementing legal measures and conducting thorough inspections of the aircraft. Fortunately, no suspicious items were found.

These incidents are part of a recent series of similar threats affecting Delhi's security environment. Last week, several museums in Delhi received bomb threat emails. Approximately 10-15 museums, including the Railway Museum, were targeted, leading to police interventions and investigations. All threats were subsequently confirmed to be hoaxes.

The pattern of bomb threats via email has raised concerns among security officials, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and robust security measures across key locations in India.
