PM Modi addresses last 'Mann Ki Baat' of 2023; urges youth to explore AI tools

Last 'Mann Ki Baat' of 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking to the nation in the last 'Mann Ki Baat' episode of the year 2023, emphasised how innovative technology such as artificial intelligence (AI) has brought about convenience in various sectors of society.

Recalling the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam event in Uttar Pradesh, where the indigenous AI-powered Bhashini app effortlessly translated his words from Hindi to Tamil, he stated that the participants in the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam were elated by this experiment.

"There was an experiment in Kashi a few days ago that I would like to share with Mann Ki Baat listeners. You are probably aware that thousands of people have travelled to Kashi from Tamil Nadu to participate in the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam. For the first time, I used the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool 'Bhashini' to communicate with them from a public platform."

"I was addressing in Hindi from the Dais, but thanks to the AI tool Bhashini, the people of Tamil Nadu who were present were listening to my address in Tamil, translated in real-time," PM Modi said on Sunday during the 108th episode of Mann Ki Baat.

'Younger generation should explore AI tools'

The Prime Minister went on to say that technology is a new beginning and that he hopes it will help his voice reach the masses more easily.

"The day is not far away when a speech can be delivered in any language, but the audience can hear the same speech in their language in real-time." "In the future, the same feature will be available in movies. In which the audience in a theatre hall would be able to hear real-time translations powered by AI."

He went on to say that once implemented, such technology would make it easier to operate in various sectors, including the judiciary and education.

"A huge transformation will take place in our schools, hospitals and courts when this technology is extensively used," he went on to say.

The Prime Minister also urged the younger generation to explore AI tools for real-time translation in greater depth.
