Pune Porsche crash: Bombay High Court ruled on Tuesday ordered the immediate release of the teen accused in the Pune Porsche accident case.

The 17-year-old boy allegedly crashed the luxury car into a bike on May 19, killing two 24-year-old engineers and causing widespread outrage.

"We are bound by law, the aims and objectives of the Juvenile Justice Act and must treat him as any child in conflict with law separately from an adult, despite the seriousness of the crime," the Bench said.

The court found that the Juvenile Justice Board's order remanding him to an observation home was illegal and issued without jurisdiction. It was clarified that the teenager was undergoing rehabilitation and had been referred to a psychologist and that these sessions would continue.

The court stated that rehabilitation is the "primary objective". "The child in conflict with the law (CCL) is under the age of 18. His age must be considered," the court stated.

The ruling followed a habeas corpus petition filed by the boy's aunt, who sought his release from a government observation home. The teen will now be cared for by his aunt after his parents and grandfather were arrested for attempting to cover up the crime.
