Bihar horror: Class 12 girl shot dead on way to school in Samastipur, SIT formed to hunt accused
PTC Web Desk: A Class 12 student was shot dead in broad daylight while on her way to school in Bihar's Samastipur district on Monday, triggering shock and anger among local residents.
The incident took place at Kaijia village under the Vaini police station limits. The victim has been identified as Sonam Kumari.
According to the police, Sonam was walking to school and talking on her cellphone when an unidentified man approached her and opened fire. She sustained multiple gunshot injuries and died on the spot before she could receive medical help. The broad daylight killing created panic in the area, with a large number of villagers gathering at the scene soon after the incident.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjay Kumar Pandey said the police reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the shooting. Investigators recovered spent bullet casings from the crime scene and based on information provided by the victim's family, the accused has been identified.
The officer said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed and the police are conducting raids to arrest the suspect at the earliest.
According to the ASP, Sonam suffered three bullet wounds, which proved fatal. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather further evidence for the investigation.
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to examine the crime scene. The Police are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas, collecting forensic evidence and questioning local residents to establish the sequence of events.

Officials said the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be established. Investigators are exploring all possible angles while continuing the search for the accused.
