G20 Summit: Around 50 ambulances would be maintained on standby with adequate medical staff at hotels, airports, and the G20 Summit main venue Bharat Mandapam to deal with any medical emergency, official sources said on Monday.
“Hospitals like RML and AIIMS will be ready for any contingency along with 50 ambulances which will be deployed near the hotels, airport and G20 venue,” sourced added.
There will also be medical facilities at the G20 Summit venue.
Teams of dedicated medical personnel will be deployed around the clock to provide any medical care requested by visiting delegates.
Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, is also expected to evaluate the medical contingency planning for the G20 meeting.
On September 9 and 10, the G20 summit will be place in Delhi.
Last December, India assumed the G20 presidency.
Following the Asian financial crisis, the G20 was established in 1999 as a forum for Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors to discuss global economic and financial concerns.
Following the global economic and financial crisis of 2007, it was elevated to the level of Heads of State or Government, and it was declared the "premier forum for international economic cooperation" in 2009.
The G20 countries account for around 85% of worldwide GDP, more than 75% of global trade, and almost two-thirds of global population.
