UP accident: 4 women killed, 20 injured as truck rams into tractor-trolley
PTC News Desk: A tractor-trolley was hit by a truck in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday, killing four women and injuring 20 others. The accident occurred about 4 a.m. in Fardpur village when around 35 passengers on board the tractor-trolley were returning from a child's 'namkaran' ceremony, according to officials.
According to one of the injured passengers, Virendra Singh Lodhi Rajput, 25 women were among the 35 individuals who travelled to Beldhara the village to attend his daughter's child's ceremony.
Avanish Kumar Tyagi, Inspector of Bichwan Police Station, stated that when they arrived at Fardpur village, the tractor's headlight malfunctioned. They had parked it on the side of the road to repair it when a speeding truck collided with the tractor-trolley.
Twenty injured persons were taken to the district hospital, and four others were sent to Safai hospital in critical condition, he said.
While Fulmat (35), Ramakanti Devi (45), and Sanjay Devi (30) died on the spot, Dropadi Devi (40) died from her injuries on the way to the hospital, according to the SHO.
The locals nabbed the truck driver and turned him over to the police.
