Uttarakhand rainfall: Parts of Karnaprayag-Gwaldam National Highway washed away

Uttarakhand rainfall: Parts of the Karnaprayag-Gwaldam National Highway in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district were washed away by the Pindar River, officials said on Saturday.

Washing away of the National Highway has left commuters stranded.

The soil on the lower areas of the road is constantly eroding due to the flow of the river.

The Chamoli district administration reports that work is underway to clean the debris and reopen the route.

More information is awaited.

According to officials, traffic was already blocked on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway-58 due to a massive landslide from the mountain in the Totaghati area of Tehri Garhwal district.

State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected districts in the state on Monday, as well as a review of the Ganga River's rising water level in Rishikesh.

SDRF and NDRF personnel were deployed in areas severely impacted by rain-related incidents on the orders of Chief Minister Dhami.

This monsoon's heavy rains in Uttarakhand have caused landslides and flash floods in various spots.
