BJP poll manifesto highlights: Uniform Civil Code and CAA promises released

PTC News Desk: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, promising to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) across the nation upon forming the government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while introducing the party's 'Sankalp Patra', emphasised that it would bolster the four foundational pillars of a developed India: youth, women, the poor, and farmers.

Addressing the gathering in New Delhi, Modi underscored the significance of the BJP's manifesto, stating, "The entire country awaits the BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' with anticipation. Over the last decade, the BJP has diligently translated every aspect of its manifesto into tangible action on the ground. This 'Sankalp Patra' is designed to empower the four crucial pillars of a developed India: youth, women, the poor, and farmers."


Earlier this year, the BJP-led government in Uttarakhand took a significant step by enacting the Uniform Civil Code, replacing religious personal laws governing various civil matters such as marriage, divorce, and inheritance. Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has also pledged to ban polygamy in the state and advocate for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code.

At the BJP's manifesto event, Prime Minister Modi made several significant announcements:

1. Expansion of Ayushman Bharat Yojana: PM Modi pledged to include all individuals above 75 years of age in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, addressing concerns regarding healthcare affordability, particularly for the elderly and middle-class citizens.

2. Continuation of Free Ration Scheme: PM Modi guaranteed the continuation of the free ration scheme for the next five years, ensuring food security for millions of families.

3. Enhancement of MUDRA Yojana: The BJP plans to double the loan limit under the MUDRA Yojana to ₹20 lakh from ₹10 lakh, aiming to empower entrepreneurs and foster an ecosystem conducive to Industry 4.0.

4. Reduction of Electricity Bills: The BJP aims to alleviate the financial burden on families by working towards reducing electricity bills to zero for millions of households.

5. Expansion of Bullet Trains: PM Modi announced the launch of three more bullet trains and the introduction of three types of Vande Bharat trains, catering to different travel needs. The party also intends to expand the Vande Bharat train network across the country.

6. One Nation, One Election and Uniform Civil Code: The BJP is committed to realizing the concept of One Nation, One Election and views the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code as essential for the nation's interests.

7. Focus on Infrastructure Development: The party aims to strengthen India's foundation for the 21st century through social, digital, and physical infrastructure development, including the establishment of new educational institutions and modernisation of transportation networks.

8. Support for Tribal Heritage Research: The BJP plans to establish a Digital Janjatiya Kala Academy to encourage research on tribal heritage and culture.

9. Inclusion of Transgender Community in Ayushman Bharat Scheme: PM Modi announced the decision to extend the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme to the transgender community, ensuring healthcare access for all segments of society.
