PTC News Desk: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP on Monday of imposing the idea of "one leader in the country", calling it an "insult" to the nation's people.

The Wayanad MP compared India to a bouquet of flowers and said that each one must be respected because it contributes to the overall beauty of the bouquet. "This idea that India should have only one leader is an insult to every single young Indian," the Congress leader said.

Gandhi was speaking to party workers and voters in this high-profile constituency following a massive roadshow as part of his election campaign.

He questioned why India did not have more leaders, claiming that this is the primary difference between the Congress and the BJP.

The MP stated that the Congress wishes to listen to the people of the country and value and respect their beliefs, language, religion, and culture. However, the BJP wishes to impose something from above, he claimed.

"We did not gain independence from the British to be colonised by the RSS ideology. We want India to be ruled by all of its people," he stated.

Gandhi, who is seeking reelection in Wayanad, visited the constituency for the second time after the Lok Sabha election date was announced. He launched his election campaign in Wayanad earlier this month by filing his nomination papers and holding a massive road show.

Gandhi won Wayanad with a record margin of 4,31,770 votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
