Protests erupt in India after attack on Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan

Major protests have been erupted in India a day after an angry mob attacked Gurudwara Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, the birthplace of Sikh faith founder Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Several Sikh leaders including Shiromani Akali Dal and Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjinder Singh Sirsa took to streets and gathered outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi to protest against Pakistan over the mob attack on Nankana Sahib.

Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal has condemened the attack and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up the matter with Pak PM Imran Khan saying that the minorities there are not feeling safe. The holy shrine was attacked by a huge mob in Pakistan whiel Sikh devotees were held hostage inside the Gurudwara.

Speaking to ANI, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri, said “These are wanton acts of vandalism,arson and stone pelting against one of the holiest Sikh shrines. If any more proof was needed on the state of minorities in Pakistan then this is it.”

Meanwhile, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal took to twiter and wrote: “Persecution of minorities in Pak is a reality. Today’s attack on Gurdwara Sri #NankanaSahib has shown its horrible face. I want to ask Captain Amarinder Singh and Congress how can they oppose PM Narendra Modi’s noble humanitarian gesture of giving rights to such persecuted minorities!”

In another tweet, Harsimrat Kaur Badal targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said “Cong leader Rahul Gandhi’s refusal to condemn stoning of Gurdwara Nankana Sahib and threat to the very existence of holy shrine reveals his anti-Sikh face. Rahul working overtime to mislead people on CAA but has no time to take on Pakistan and expose atrocities it’s committing against Sikhs.”
