Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann announces to fill 3,000 new posts of anganwari worker

Barnala, August 17: In a Raksha Bandhan gift to women of state, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday announced to create 3,000 new posts of anganwari worker.

Addressing the gathering during a state-level function to mark the festival of Raksha Bandhan in Barnala on Saturday, Bhagwant Mann said the Punjab Government had already started the process for this and very soon recruitment for these posts would be started. He said this was a step forward towards empowering the women by opening new avenues of employment for them.


Punjab CM Mann said the state government was also considering the genuine demands of ASHA workers.   "The state government is making concerted efforts for women empowerment. Six districts of the state are having women officers as SSPs and eight districts have women DCs," he said.

CM Bhagwant Mann said concerted efforts were being made for the welfare of women in the state.

The Chief Minister further said required amendments were being made to the rules for changing the physical criteria for the recruitment of women in fire fighting department. 

The Punjab CM said the state government had launched first -of -its -kind initiative in the country, a dedicated Sadak Surakhya Force  to  ensure  enhanced   security  and  to  save precious lives on state  and national highways. He said specially trained, freshly recruited 1,597 personnel, including girls, were acting as the backbone to this force. They had been provided   with   latest,   fully   equipped   144 vehicles and since its launch in February this year this force had saved around 1,300 lives in road accidents, besides returning the valuables and money of people worth Rs 90 lakh.
