Punjab, Haryana likely to witness severe heatwave conditions on June 2: IMD

Weather update: Punjab and Haryana are likely to experience heatwave to severe heatwave conditions on June 2. Furthermore, the IMD warned of heatwaves in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Odisha on June 2 and in Uttarakhand and Jharkhand until June 3. Rajasthan will experience heatwaves on June 4 and 5.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre in New Delhi predicted light rain or drizzle with gusty winds in Delhi and surrounding areas in the early hours of Sunday.


"Light intensity rain/drizzle and gusty winds with speed of 20-30 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and Ncr, Gannaur, Sonipat, Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Mahendargarh, Sohana, Rewari, Bawal, Nuh (Haryana) Baraut, Bagpat, Meerut, Khekra, Modinagar, Kithor, Garhmukteshwar, Pilakhua, Hapur, Khurja, Gabhana, Jattari, Khair, Aligarh (U.P.) Bhiwari, Tizara, Khairthal (Rajasthan) during next 2 hours," the met department said.

Rain alert issued in THESE states

The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for heavy rain on June 2 in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Kerala. 

Until June 8, the IMD predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate showers, lightning, and gusty winds in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Tripura.
