Punjab weather update: Residents of Punjab, reeling under severe heatwave conditions for the last three days, can anticipate significant relief in the coming days, as per predictions from the Punjab Agricultural University's weather department.

Over the past three days, temperatures have steadily risen across Punjab's various districts. However, the Punjab Agricultural University's weather department anticipates relief from the heatwave between May 9 and 12. During this period, rain accompanied by strong winds is forecasted across different regions of Punjab.

Giving Punjab weather update, Dr Pavneet Kaur Kingra, a scientist at Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana, said temperatures across the state had been consistently above average in recent days. However, between May 9 and 12, Punjab is expected to experience intense winds and rainfall. As a precautionary measure, the department has issued advisories to farmers, emphasising the importance of maintaining crop health.

Ludhiana district has seen the highest temperatures in the region over the past two days, with mercury soaring above 39 degrees Celsius. Similarly, Patiala has witnessed temperatures exceeding 39 degrees Celsius.

The looming heatwave conditions present potential threats to agricultural activities and public health across Punjab. Farmers are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their crops from the adverse effects of rising temperatures.

This surge in temperatures raises concerns about the impact of climate change on agricultural practices and livelihoods in the region. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging residents to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions to combat the impending heatwave.
