Weather update: Parts of Punjab receive light rain, yellow alert for July 12
Weather update: Several parts of Punjab received light rain on Wednesday morning. Heavy rain is expected in three districts - Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur - later in the day. Several other districts will witness cloudy skies on Wednesday.
However, the slow Monsoon progress has resulted in increased humidity in the state, causing discomfort for people.
The temperature has crossed 35 degrees in almost all the districts. It is expected to increase further and can even cross 40 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain on July 12.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected in many parts of Central India, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh over the next five days, according to the IMD.
Moderate rainfall continued in parts of Himachal Pradesh, with the Shimla Meteorological Office issuing a 'yellow' alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in isolated areas on Thursday and Friday. The weather department predicts rainfall until July 15.
A sudden heavy rain shower, combined with strong winds, hit parts of Delhi on Tuesday, surprising residents and causing significant waterlogging and traffic congestion. The weather forecast for Wednesday predicts lighter rainfall than Tuesday, with an increase in intensity expected the next day. Wednesday is expected to be mostly cloudy with occasional light rain. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach around 34 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may drop to 26 degrees Celsius.
