After Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Punjab Cabinet Minister Sukhjnder Singh Randhawa has also tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Saturday. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder took to Twitter and wished him for a speedy recovery.
He wrote: "My Cabinet colleague and Cooperation and Jails Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has tested positive for Covid-19. I wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to him joining us at work soon."
District President, Mahila Congress, Gurdaspur, Amandeep Kaur Randhawa, said, "Our cabinet minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has tested positive for COVID-19.l wish a speedy recovery and pray to God for his good health."
Recently, the Dera Bassi Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) NK Sharma announced that he had also tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Likewise, 8 security men of former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal also contracted the contagion disease.
Coronavirus cases in Punjab have been rising at a rapid pace. The state has been reporting more than 1,000 cases in a day taking the total number of coronavirus cases, as of Saturday evening, to 40,643 out of which 15,305 are active cases, 24,302 have been cured and discharged while a total of 1036 COVID patients have died due to the pandemic.
