Sukhbir Singh Badal attacked at Nanded gurdwara complex: Akal Takht Jathedar flays incident
PTC Web Desk: Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj has strongly condemned the attack on Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal at the Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur complex in Nanded, Maharashtra.
Calling the incident deeply unfortunate, the Jathedar said gurdwaras were sacred places where Sikh devotees from across India and around the world come to pay their respects and pray for the welfare of all. He said an attack inside such a holy place was particularly regrettable and should not have happened.
According to the Jathedar, Sukhbir Singh Badal had travelled to Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, along with his family as a Sikh devotee to pay obeisance at the historic Sikh shrines. Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said Singh Sahiban and management of Takht Sahib accorded Sukhbir Singh Badal due respect during his visit on Wednesday morning.

The Jathedar said incidents of violence at gurdwara complexes not only undermine the dignity and sanctity of the religious institution but also adversely affect the image of the Sikh community as a whole.
He stressed that gurdwaras should remain places of peace, devotion and respect, where every devotee can offer prayers without fear.
Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said a true Sikh cannot attack another Sikh who has come to a gurdwara to pay obeisance.
He made it clear that violence has no place inside a gurdwara and strongly criticised the person responsible for the incident.
“A true Sikh cannot attack anyone who has come to a gurdwara to bow before the Guru. A person who does such a thing cannot be called a Sikh,” the Jathedar said.
