T20 World Cup: Security has been increased in New York after terrorist group ISIS-K made a "global" threat against the upcoming ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup match between India and Pakistan.

According to CNN, Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick J Ryder stated that the event first received an ISIS-K-linked threat in April, followed by more specific threats on the India-Pakistan game slated for June 9. He stated that the threats included references to a viral video circulating online that asks for "that lone wolf to act out."

According to the governor's office, the situation is being monitored, and their intelligence indicates that "there is no credible public safety threat at this time."

Eisenhower Park Stadium, located 25 miles east of Manhattan, will host eight ICC T20 World Cup matches from June 3 to 12, featuring a clash between two Asian arch-rivals.

Kathy Hochul, the governor of New York, said she is working with law enforcement to ensure that these games go smoothly. "I have also directed the New York State Police to engage in elevated security measures, including an increased law enforcement presence, advanced surveillance, and thorough screening processes," she stated.

"Public safety is my top priority and we are committed to ensuring the Cricket World Cup is a safe, enjoyable experience," she stated.

The militant group ISIS-K claimed responsibility for the March attack on Moscow's famous Crocus City Hall, which killed at least 143 people. The group arose in eastern Afghanistan in late 2014 and is now one of ISIS' most active affiliates.
