Caught on camera: Car hits woman biker, drags her vehicle for metres on Gurugram road
PTC Web Desk: A video showing a woman biker being knocked off her motorcycle by a car on a Gurugram road has gone viral on social media, with the rider alleging that the vehicle had been following and trying to confront her before the crash.
The incident reportedly took place on Sunday on Golf Course Road, where the woman, identified online as Sia, was riding her Aprilia RS 457 along with members of her biking group.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Sia said the occupants of a car began behaving aggressively while she was riding. She alleged that the car repeatedly tried to come close to her and that the people inside asked her to stop.
Sia claimed she kept riding to avoid being blocked and also asked the occupants to maintain a safe distance. According to her account, she suspected that the men inside the car were drunk.
She further alleged that the car continued to follow her before the driver suddenly tried to move in front of her motorcycle. The car then hit her bike, throwing her onto the road. The motorcycle was also dragged for a few metres before the car sped away.
The incident was captured on an action camera fitted to Sia's motorcycle.
Friend chased the car
Following the crash, one of Sia's friends reportedly chased the vehicle and confronted the driver at a traffic signal.
According to Sia, her friend told the driver that he was responsible for the collision. However, she alleged that the driver refused to accept responsibility and drove away from the signal.
Sia has appealed to the Gurugram Police to investigate the incident and take action against the driver. In her social media post, she also shared details identifying the vehicle, including its registration number and the name of the registered owner.
Video sparks outrage online
The video has triggered a strong reaction on social media, with users expressing concern over road safety and the alleged behaviour of the car occupants.
Several users tagged the Gurugram Police, Gurugram Traffic Police, Delhi Police and Haryana Police, asking authorities to investigate the matter. Some also called for an FIR and strict action against the driver.
Police action or an official statement in the matter is awaited.
