PTC Web Desk:  A shocking incident has come to light from Gajapati district in Odisha, where a peon working at the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) Department was arrested for allegedly handing over a bottle of urine instead of water to his senior officer.

The accused, identified as Siba Narayan Nayak, was posted at the RWSS office in R Udayagiri. According to reports, the incident occurred on the night of July 23, when Assistant Executive Engineer Sachin Gouda, who was working late in the office, asked Nayak for drinking water. Nayak allegedly handed him a bottle containing urine.

Unaware of the contamination, Gouda consumed the liquid while engrossed in his work. However, he began feeling unwell shortly after. Suspecting something was wrong with the water, Gouda’s health deteriorated. He was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

Following treatment, Gouda sent the sample for laboratory testing. The report confirmed unusually high levels of ammonia, indicating serious contamination. Two other staff members also reportedly complained about the water’s foul taste, raising further concerns.

Once recovered, Gouda lodged a formal police complaint. Based on preliminary investigation and questioning, Nayak was arrested. A case has been registered under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
