Major mishap averted as Buddha Air Plane skids off runway during landing at Nepal’s Bhadrapur airport; passengers safe
PTC Web Desk: A Buddha Air aircraft narrowly avoided a major mishap after overshooting the runway while landing at Bhadrapur Airport in eastern Nepal on Friday night, officials confirmed.
The flight, which had departed from Kathmandu with around 50 passengers on board, encountered difficulty during landing at approximately 9 pm. According to Tribhuvan International Airport spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, the aircraft went beyond the runway by nearly 200 metre and came to a halt near a rivulet.
The plane sustained minor damage, but there were no injuries reported. All passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the aircraft shortly after the incident.
Airport and airline authorities are examining the circumstances that led to the runway overshoot. Normal operations at the airport are expected to resume after safety checks are completed.
