'Easy one for me to solve': US President Trump as he brags about resolving Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict

PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump on Friday claimed that it would be easy for him to resolve Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict, adding that he has already put an end to multiple global wars during his tenure.

Speaking during a working lunch with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, Trump referred to the recent tensions in the region, saying, “Although I do understand that Pakistan attacked, or there is an attack going on with Afghanistan. That's an easy one for me to solve if I have to solve it. In the meantime, I have to run the USA, but I love solving wars. You know why? I like stopping people from being killed, and I've saved millions and millions of lives.”

The comments came amid rising tensions between the two neighbouring countries as a 48-hour ceasefire expired at 6 pm local time. However, reports indicated that the truce might have been extended, with both sides expected to hold talks in Doha to find a resolution. The Taliban, meanwhile, accused Islamabad of launching airstrikes in several districts of Paktika province along the Durand Line. Following the attacks, a senior Taliban official told AFP that the ceasefire had been “violated.”

Trump, reiterating his long-standing claim of resolving global conflicts, also brought up his unfulfilled hopes for the Nobel Peace Prize. He said, “I have solved eight wars. Go to Rwanda and the Congo, talk about India and Pakistan. Look at all the wars we solved. Every time they said if you solve the next one, you’ll get the Nobel Prize. I never got it. Someone else did — a very nice woman, I don’t know who she is, but she was very generous. I don’t care about that; I care about saving lives.”

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, who, in her acceptance speech, partially dedicated the honour to Trump, acknowledging his support for Venezuela’s pro-democracy movement.
