Japan Earthquake: Japan hit by magnitude 6.1 earthquake after strongest quake in Taiwan

Japan Earthquake: A day after a  severe, strongest and massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake which jolted Taiwan and resulted in nine fatalities, with 143 people still trapped in rubble and over 1,000 injured, Japan jolted by second quake with magnitude of 6.1 which strikes East Coast of Honshu. 

The depth of the earthquake was 55 km which struck Japan at 8:46 am IST.
Taking to X handle, NCS posted, “Earthquake of Magnitude:6.1, Occurred on 04-04-2024, 08:46:33 IST, Lat: 37.77 & Long: 141.70, Depth: 55 Km ,Location: Near East Coast of Honshu, Japan."


As of now no casualties has been reported.

Japan has downgraded its tsunami warning to a tsunami advisory following a powerful earthquake measuring 7.4 that struck Taiwan a day earlier. 

The earthquake, the most powerful to hit Taiwan in nearly a quarter-century, has resulted in nine fatalities, with 143 individuals still trapped in rubble and over 1,000 injured, according to the island nation's Central News Agency (CNA). 

The casualties occurred primarily in Hualien, with four victims in Taroko Gorge, two near the Dachingshui and Huide tunnels, one in a residential building in Hualien City, and one in the Hejen mining area, with many attributed to rockfalls.
