Lebanon clashes Day 3: 11 killed, several injured in Palestinian refugee camp

Lebanon clashes Day 3: In the sparking violence in the largest Palestinian refugee camp which marks the third consecutive day today, at least 11 killed and 40 injured in the violence-hit Beirut (Lebanon). 

The rivalry groups fired rocket-propelled grenades at each other in the crowded alleys of the camp in southern Lebanon.

The injured were hospitalised at the government hospital which is at the outskirts of the camp.

As per the sources and locals, the clashes are expanding with the each passing day. The locals also heard sounds of shelling from inside the camp.

Locals further stated that clashes in the camp which is under the administration of Palestinian groups are not uncommon.

The Palestinian Authority president, Mahmoud Abbas, said in a statement, “The clashes in the camp, which involved heavy weaponry — including machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades — threatened to spill over outside the walls of the camp to the coastal city of Sidon, south of Beirut on the Mediterranean.” 

Several Lebanese soldiers were injured after an artillery shell from the camp landed inside a military base.  The army said, “The Army Command warns of the consequences of exposing military posts and their personnel to danger, whatever the reasons, and stresses that the Army will respond to the sources of fire in kind.”

On Saturday, another Palestinian gang killed a senior of the Fatah faction and four of his bodyguards, sparking violence in the largest Palestinian refugee camp, Ein al-Hilweh, which is home to more than 63,000 people living in a small area of densely packed buildings and most of them, are Palestinians.  The Fatah commander, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, blamed an Islamic organization, Jund al-Sham for the attack.
