Man throws raw meat outside Gurdwara in UK, arrested after MP raises issue in parliament

PTC News Desk: The UK police have arrested and filed charges against a man for allegedly throwing raw meat outside the gurdwara premises in West Bromwich. The action was taken after Labour MP Sarah Coombes from West Bromwich raised the issue in the British Parliament.

According to the police, 42-year-old Tomasz Bruch has been charged with deliberately throwing raw meat outside the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib and hurting religious sentiments. This act is considered a violation of Sikh religious beliefs, and the police are treating it as a hate crime. Police records also indicate that the accused does not have a permanent address.

The UK police took him into custody and produced him in court, after which he was sent on remand until the next hearing. The next hearing will take place at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court. MP Sarah Coombes shared a video on her X handle giving details of the arrest.

The incident of throwing raw meat at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib in West Bromwich happened on 22 December 2025. The gurdwara management reported the matter to the police, who then began their investigation. The investigation gained pace after MP Sarah Coombes raised the issue in the British Parliament on 8 January 2026.

West Bromwich Police started the investigation by examining CCTV cameras installed outside the gurdwara. The footage showed the accused dropping raw meat from a bag at the gurdwara gate. The police obtained this footage from the gurdwara management, identified the man, and arrested him. The accused was identified as 42-year-old Tomasz Bruch, though police could not find his local address.

Sikh and Hindu organisations demand strict punishment

Hindu and Sikh organisations in the UK have urged the police to take strict action so that such incidents are not repeated in the future. The police assured that hate-based crimes targeting religious places will not be tolerated in any form and that offenders will be brought to justice.

During a parliamentary debate, Labour MP Sarah Coombes raised the issue of the attack on the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in West Bromwich. She described the incident as “a horrific act motivated by hatred against Sikhs.” Coombes said the attackers deliberately threw a large bag of meat into the gurdwara premises, which is against Sikh religious principles. She condemned the act strongly, calling it completely unacceptable, and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
