PTC News Desk: The container ship that collided with a bridge in US' Baltimore was entirely manned by Indians, confirmed Maersk, the shipping company.

The collision made the bridge collapse almost entirely, throwing cars and people into the river below.

According to AFP, numerous vehicles and over 20 people are reported to have fallen into the Patapsco River when the 300-metre-long ship collided with one of the bridge's legs. The ship had a crew of 22, all of them were Indian.

The ship's lights went out just before it rammed a leg of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing a part of it to collapse on the vessel.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore stated that the ship had lost power prior to the crash. "We can confirm that the crew notified authorities about a power outage," Moore said.

The collision occurred around 1:30 a.m., causing a fire aboard. The impact caused a number of cars to plunge into the water, as seen in a video shared on social media. Following the incident, all lanes on the I-695 Key Bridge were closed, with traffic being redirected.
