US immigration officer fatally shoots woman in Minneapolis, sparks outrage

PTC News Desk: An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer on Wednesday fatally shot a woman driver in Minneapolis during the Trump administration’s latest immigration crackdown, the federal officials said.

A 37-year-old woman named Renee Nicole Good was shot in the head in front of a family member in a snowy neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis—about one mile from the spot where George Floyd was killed in 2020. Witnesses recorded the incident, and within a short time hundreds of angry protesters gathered and condemned the shooting.

After the incident, U.S. President Donald Trump defended the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer involved. He said the officer was carrying out a “targeted operation” when the shooting happened. Trump blamed the “Radical Left,” accusing them of regularly threatening and attacking law-enforcement officers and ICE agents.

According to the President, the woman had “violently and deliberately” run over the ICE officer, and the officer appeared to have fired in self-defense. Trump said authorities were reviewing the entire situation and again faulted the “radical left” for hostility against American law-enforcement personnel.

Thousands of demonstrators gathered for a vigil where the deadly shooting happened. People are yelling and demanding ICE to leave Minneapolis.

“Shame! Shame! Shame!" and “ICE out of Minnesota!" can be heard as the protesters were sloganeering against the ICE.
