PTC News Desk: The recent remarks made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting a proactive stance on counter-terrorism, have sparked reactions from the United States and Pakistan, underscoring the delicate dynamics in the region.

In response to PM Modi's statement that "India will not hesitate to cross borders to kill terrorists," the United States Department of State issued a cautious response, urging both India and Pakistan to pursue dialogue for resolution while maintaining its stance of non-interference in allegations of cross-border activities.

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller reiterated the US position, stating, "The United States is not going to get into the middle of this, but we do encourage both India and Pakistan to avoid escalation and find a resolution through dialogue."

The backdrop to these remarks includes recent allegations, highlighted by a report from The Guardian, suggesting that India conducted targeted assassinations within Pakistani territory. The Indian government swiftly dismissed these claims as "false and malicious anti-India propaganda."

Prime Minister Modi's assertion came during a public rally in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh, where he emphasized the strong resolve of his government in combating terrorism. He stated, "Under this mazboot Modi sarkar, atankwaadiyon ko ghar mein ghus ke mara jata hai," which translates to "Under the strong Modi government, terrorists are being killed by entering their homes."

Echoing PM Modi's sentiments, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh affirmed the government's unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security within the country. He emphasized that terrorists attempting to disrupt peace would be pursued relentlessly, even if they seek refuge across the border in Pakistan.

Pakistan swiftly condemned PM Modi's remarks, labeling them as "provocative" and "myopic." The Pakistani government warned that such rhetoric hinders the prospects of constructive engagement and emphasized its commitment to regional peace.

The exchange of statements underscores the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, with counter-terrorism efforts being a focal point of contention. As both nations navigate these complexities, the role of diplomatic channels and dialogue remains crucial in mitigating escalation and fostering stability in the region.
