PTC News Desk : Underscoring the strength of the relationship between the United States and India evolving into a strategic partnership that spans various fields, from defense and trade to cultural exchanges and shared democratic values, the Marine Band performed 'Sare Jahan Se Accha Hindustan Hamara,' a popular Indian patriotic song during a a reception at the White House commemorating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month.

The event also included a variety of Indian street foods, such as golgappa (pani puri) and khoya (sweetmeat).

This is the second time in the year, White House has played 'Sare Jahan Se Accha'. Firstly, it was played when Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visited the state in June 2023.

Indian American community leader Ajay Jain Bhutoria shared the pictures and videos of the White House’s AANHPI Heritage Month at the Rose Garden at his X handle and wrote, “Thrilled to hear Saare Jahan Se acha Hindustan Hamara played at White House AANHPI heritage celebration hosted by President Joe Biden with VP Harris. Paanipuri and Khoya dish was also served. Stronger US-India relationship."

"From Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders whose ancestors have called their lands home for hundreds of years to Asian immigrants who have newly arrived and those whose families have been here for generations - AA and NHPI heritage has long been a part of the history of our great country and a defining force in the soul of our nation," US President Joe Biden said.

The month of May is recognised as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, commemorating the rich cultural diversity of communities from Asia and the Pacific Islands, spanning Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. This encompasses approximately 50 ethnic groups and over 100 languages.
