5,000 AIIMS nurses go on indefinite strike over salary hike
6th Central Pay Commission: The members of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nurses Union in Delhi sit on an indefinite strike over redressal of their demands, including that related to the sixth Central Pay Commission.
The President of AIIMS Nurses Union, Delhi, said that "Our Union is ready for talks with the administration."

"We are feeling bad for patients but we're helpless as our demands haven't been met. We had given notice for strike a month ago but even then the administration didn't listen to our demands including that related to the 6th Central Pay Commission," President added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS Delhi, said that "It's unfortunate the AIIMS Nurses Union has gone on a strike now, only a few months from when a vaccine will provide the solution."

He further appealed to all nurses, nursing officers to not go on strike and come back to work and help us get through the pandemic. Guleria also said that he was proud of the entire family of AIIMS that has performed relentlessly during the pandemic.
He also said that the Nurses Union had put in 23 demands of which most of the demands have been met by the AIIMS administration and by the government.
There was one demand that the Union has insisted upon i.e. the fixation of the initial payment as far as the sixth central pay commission is concerned.
