550th Parkash Purb: Air India launches first flight from Amritsar to London

Air India has launched its first flight from Amritsar to London to mark celebrations of the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The airline has painted ‘Ik Onkar’ on the tail of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Ik Onkar is the first word of Gurbani, which means, “God is One”. It is usually found on Gurdwaras across the world. Prayers were made at the airport before the departure of the flight. Union Minister Som Prakash, BJP state president Shavet Malik, Amritsar MP Gurjit Singh Aujla, former cricketer Harbhajan Singh and other prominent leaders were present at the airport on the occasion. BJP leaders Som Prakash and Shavet Malik thanked the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Air India for the initiative. It will operate thrice a week, on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Punjabi food will be served on board. -PTC News
