6 children drown in Ganga River; 3 bodies have been recovered

Kanpur: Six boys aged 10 and 12 have drowned in the Ganga River on Sunday. Only three bodies have been recovered so far.

The rescue operation is going on to recover the remaining three bodies.

“Six children have drowned. We have recovered three bodies, and the rescue operation for the three is still underway. We got divers, nets and boats for the operation,” said Manoj Gupta, Circle Officer, Colonelganj.

The boys aged between 10 and 12 went to take bath in the Ganga River on Sunday afternoon, during which they drowned. Some locals spotted them and they informed the police and divers, after which the operation started.

Three bodies which have been recovered from the Ganga River and have been sent to Hallet Hospital in Kanpur.
