Jharkhand Congress X handle withheld in Amit Shah fake video case

PTC News Desk: The social media platform X (formerly Twitter) withheld the official account of Jharkhand Congress on Wednesday. The development comes amid an ongoing police crackdown on a fake video of Amit Shah.

The handle posted the video with the caption: "Amit Shah's election speech went viral, in which he said that if the BJP government is formed again, OBC and SC/ST reservation will be abolished."

In the fake video, Amit Shah was projected as suggesting the BJP would eliminate Muslim reservations, whereas in reality, the home minister was speaking about removing Telangana's 4% unconstitutional Muslim reservation. The remarks were made on April 23 at Telangana's Vijaya Sankalp Sabha.

The special cell of Delhi police issued a notice to Jharkhand Congress president Rajesh Thakur under Section 91 of the CrPC, asking that he appear at the cell's office on May 2 as Jharkhand Congress X handle also shared the video.

The legal counsel for Revanth Reddy and 4 other leaders summoned by Delhi Police requested more time to appear. The counsel expressed their clients' inability to comply with the Delhi Police summons in connection with the ongoing investigation.
