Bengaluru likely to have its own ‘Times Square’ styled ‘Bengaluru Square’ : The Karnataka government is coming up with its very own ‘Bengaluru Square’ that will resemble the Times Square in New York.

The grand square in bengaluru will be built at one of the most talked about spots – the intersection at Residency Road and Brigade Road in the central business district, said the mayor of the city.

Stating that Bengaluru is becoming a ‘global city,’ Mayor R Sampath Raj announced that this revamp was to make the street a “world-class tourist destination”.

Swati Ramanathan of TenderSURE has been asked to start working on a detailed project report, he added.

The Mayor made the comments during a reopening of the city’s Church Street, which was relaid on Thursday. The stretch had largely remained out of bounds for the past year as rain and other factors, said reports.
