BSF Jawan dies, over 10 hurt in an accident in Amritsar

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan died and over 10 others were injured after a canter carrying the Jawans was hit by a private bus on Monday in Amritsar. The deceased has been identified as Giriwar Singh.

According to media sources, The BSF was returning to Ajnala headquarters after night patrolling party, whereas the private bus was going to Amritsar via Ajnala. The canter carrying 16 jawans and officers belonging to 73 Battalion of the BSF was hit by a bus belonging to Baba Budha Sahib Transport. The driver, Jaspal Singh was driving the bus rashly and hit the BSF vehicle from behind.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. The condition of six of the injured jawans was critical and they were referred to a private hospital in Amritsar. The driver of the BSF vehicle escaped unhurt.

The police have arrested the driver of the bus. It has registered a case culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304 of the IPC against driver Jaspal Singh.
