Policemen hurt in road accident in Batala

At least sixteen Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) were injured after the bus in which they were travelling rammed into a tractor-trailer on Thursday at Panj Graian village, Batala. The accident took place on Sri Hargobindpur road, 10 km from the village.

The bus was carrying 26 cops on to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Due to dense fog, the bus driver failed to spot the sugarcane laden tractor. And the bus rammed into the tractor. According to the media sources, the tractor was totally smashed by the impact. The driver of the bus got trapped and villagers rescued him. Both legs of the driver were fractured in the accident. The injured were rushed to the hospital. Out of 16, two were in serious condition and were referred to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar. Ten of the injured were discharged after first aid.
