Chandigarh: Sisters refused passports as they look like Nepalese

Chandigarh: In a major incident, two sisters were allegedly denied a passport by the authorities as they used to look like Nepali. Narrating her story, one of the girls said that "We went to the passport office at Chandigarh, they saw us and wrote that we are Nepali and asked us to prove our nationality."

"We informed the Minister Anil Vij only after which the process of making our passport started," the girl said. The inicdent comes to light two years after an  inter-faith couple alleged that they were denied the travel document citing their religion.

Meanwhile, Deputy commissioner, Ashok Sharma, Ambala was quoted by ANI as saying, "A person named Bhagat Bahadur went with his daughters Santosh and Henna to the passport office in Chandigarh for their passports. They denied them the passports and wrote 'applicant seems to be Nepali' on their documents."

Likewise, DC Ashok Sharma stated that the inquiry will be conducted into the incident and appropriate action will be taken.
