Cold wave conditions intensify in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh

The cold waves on Thursday tightened the grip on most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh with minimum temperature dropping a few degrees below the normal following the rain. In the past three days, rain lash the plains of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Amritsar in Punjab was the coldest place with minimum temperature of 2.2 degrees Celsius, one notch below on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bathinda recorded the low at 2.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the normal. Pathankot, Adampur, Halwara, Faridkot and Gurdaspur were recorded at 6, 3.9, 4.8, 3.6 and 7 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Likewise, Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab witnessed extreme cold wave conditions with minumum temperature at 6.8 degrees Celsisus each.

In Haryana, Hisar was the coldest with a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius, four notches below the normal. Meanwhile, Ambala, Karnal, Narnaul, Rohtak and Sirsa recorded the minimum temperature at 6.8, 7.4, 5, 6 and 4 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The capital of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature at 6.7 degrees Celsius. Likewise, a thick blanket of fog gripped Chandigarh, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Adampur, Halwara, Bathinda, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak and Sirsa.
