In a major counter-terrorism operation, Delhi police has foiled a terror plot in national capital and arrested 5 ISIS-linked terrorists on Wednesday night. The terrorists have been arrested from different states including two from Delhi, one from Madhya Pradesh, one from Hyderabad and one from Ranchi.

Police have also recovered some parts used in the making of IED. The raids were conducted across four to five states, with nearly eight suspects interrogated so far.

Investigators found that the module was being run from India by its key member, Ashraf Danish, who remained in touch with Pakistan-based contacts through encrypted apps and social media. The inquiry showed that the accused were using these platforms to radicalise Indian youth and bring them into their fold. The group was also running several online forums designed to fuel communal discord and disrupt religious harmony.

From Danish’s possession, the Special Cell seized a country-made pistol, live cartridges, chemicals such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulphur powder, along with copper sheets, ball bearings, strip wires, electronic circuits, laptops, mobile phones, and cash. Officials believe these items were intended for manufacturing weapons and explosives.
