DSGMC elections 2021: Manjinder Singh Sirsa thanks Delhi sangat for SAD win

DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa lost his seat at Punjabi Bagh even as the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) swept the 46-member Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections 2021, counting of votes for which was held on Wednesday.

The elected body runs the affairs of the Sikh community, which includes gurdwaras, schools, colleges and hospitals. The DSGMC has been in the forefront in providing help during Covid, housing Afghan refugees or getting bail for farmers arrested after the Red fort violence on January 26. Votes were cast on August 22 using ballot papers.

Expressing gratitude to voters, SAD's Manjinder Singh Sirsa said," We feel humbled and blessed to win 29 seats out of 46 in the DSGMC elections. This win is the victory of Delhi’s sangat. We bow our head to the honour bestowed upon the Shiromani Akali Dal by the sangat of Delhi."

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal said, "I congratulate the sangat of Delhi who gave this verdict. The sangat of Delhi has elected its parliament."

"Many thanks to Guru Sahib Ji for blessing with glorious victory in the DSGMC elections 2021 and to president of Shiromani Akali Dal Sukhbir Singh Badal, whose leadership led to this victory. Congrats to the Akali Dal family and all winning members," SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur tweeted.
