Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet to undergo advanced checks from June 15, DGCA to review report
PTC Web Desk: In response to the fatal incident involving an Air India Boeing 787-800 aircraft operating flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick on June 12, that left 241 passengers dead, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed urgent enhanced safety inspections of the airline’s Boeing 787-8/9 Dreamliner fleet.
The directive, issued by the DGCA’s Deputy Director General for the Northern Region, mandates a series of preventive checks and maintenance actions beginning June 15. These inspections will focus on aircraft powered by Genx engines and aim to ensure flight safety through immediate technical assessments.
Key measures ordered
Pre-Departure Checks (Effective June 15):
Fuel parameter monitoring and system checks
Inspection of the cabin air compressor
Electronic Engine Control system testing
Operational testing of engine fuel-driven actuators and oil systems
Hydraulic system serviceability verification
Comprehensive review of take-off parameters
Flight Control Inspections will be introduced during transit inspections until further notice.
Power Assurance Checks must be completed within two weeks.
Maintenance Action Review: All actions must be reviewed and closed based on repetitive technical snags identified in the past 15 days.
The report of all these inspections will to be submitted to the DGCA for review.
